"Blockstream is collaborating with industry leaders to create a Bitcoin micropayment system"
https://blockstream.com/technology/#lightning First I'm noticing this, but I'm pretty sure for the last two years lightning was being sold to the community as a cure-all for bitcoin's scaling problems and not just a "micropayment system". In fact, I'm pretty sure just about every last person in /bitcoin is under the impression lightning is supposed to make bitcoin payments/commerce viable again and make bitcoin go to the moon. I think it's sad how easily manipulated people are.
Bitcoin: A store of value, A P2P ‘anonymous’ e-cash system, or a micropayments network for data?
Seems like there’s plenty of room for debate. BTC has take the ‘store if Value’ direction, BCH the ‘medium of exchange’ direction and BSV the ‘unit of account’ direction. Seems like the modern world is geared towards needing a micropayments network for data most, since it’s ‘the information age’ and they fourth industrial revolution etc. Seems like BTC is limited to just being a pyramid token thing which regulators ‘can’t shut down’ and BCH well... I can’t work out of their cash is for coffee shops or weed by mail first and foremost, but BSV genuinely seems to have a use-case, and an economic model behind it. What’s the consensus here? If you think BCH or BTC is better, why?
19 things you can do with Bitcoin: Get money in and out of China, Iran, and other restrictive countries; send money overseas cheaper than wire transfers; create a practical system for micropayments; sign electronic documents; create contracts that execute themselves; and more.

"Practical systems to allow transactions of less than 1 USD have seen little success." --Wikipedia article on micropayments makes no mention of Bitcoin.
I just noticed that the Wikipedia article on micropayments makes no mention of Bitcoin. I've never edited Wikipedia before and am short on time at the moment, so perhaps a Wikipedian out there could update the article, so that Bitcoin is mentioned as the most recent technology with the potential to solve the micropayment problem? (Sorry to not do it myself, but I try to contribute when I can!) An excerpt from the article is below.
During the late 1990s, there was a movement to create microtransaction standards, and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) worked on incorporating micropayments into HTML even going as far as to suggest the embedding of payment-request information in HTTP error codes. The W3C has since stopped its efforts in this area, and micropayments have not become a widely used method of selling content over the Internet.
Edit: added excerpt, clarified that intent is to request help with Wikipedia editing. Update: article now mentions Bitcoin! Those who are interested in micropayments will now be aware of new efforts toward solving this problem. Thanks to surfer431 for pointing out that...
